Hi, I’m Susan (aka Plum Texan). Sea Anemone Amy is one of my closest friends and, as you may know, a resident and native of Galveston, Texas. Galveston has been deeply devastated by Hurricane Ike, but I am happy to report that Amy and all her family and friends evacuated safely before the storm hit.

Presently, Amy is staying in Houston with relatives and waiting to hear what their next move will be. She asked me to stop by and let everyone know that she’s doing OK.

For those readers who may also be curious about other regulars at the Central Houston Stitch ‘n’ Bitch, here’s the update:

Group member Liz (blogless, JanuarySix on Ravelry), a Clear Lake resident, evacuated safely to Austin and has now returned to Houston to bunk with a friend.

Mo, Kelly (kelp!), Meredith,, and Sarah (blogless, htownnole on Ravelry) and their respective husbands rode out the storm and are safe. I believe Katharine did the same with her parents.

There are a handful of other regulars and occasionals ([Mini]Laura, Esther, Sharron, Mingled Yarn Elizabeth) on whom I don’t have news.

I will relay any messages you leave here until Amy can read them herself. In the meantime, please send all the good wishes and assistance you can down this way. We’re going to need them!
