(For lack of a better title…heh)

The new knitty is out and once again, I’m not terribly impressed. I’m not going to whine about how I don’t like the patterns and why. It’s not fair to the designers. Just because their pattern is not my cup of tea, doesn’t mean that it isn’t someone elses. (wow…where’s the snark??)

Instead, I’ll focus on the two that I did like. The first is Hip in Hemp Now, I highly doubt that I’ll knit one for myself. I just don’t have the slender tuchas needed for one of those and frankly, I haven’t seen a knit skirt that doesn’t sag after you sit down. But it’s super cute on the little girl. In fact, the little girl is just super cute. I wish my hair would be that pretty if it were that long. Alas. It looks better short in my opinion.

The one that I like enough to knit for myself is Coachella. The only thing I’m not enamoured with is the racer back. My shoulders are wide enough without any help from the knits, thankyouverymuch! So knowing myself like I do (sure hope I know myself, or we’re in for a pretty sad sack time of things, eh?) I know that if I ever get around to knitting it, I’ll be modifying it to have a normal back. like say, with more fabric between my shoulder blades.

I got a package from my SP last week (squee!). My SP, she k-n-o-w-s me folks. It’s all “Being John Malkovich” and stuff. I don’t feel anyone pacing around inside my head poking at things, but I think she’s there regardless.

Edible goodies!

I received some edible goodies. I’ll confess that it took ALL MY WILLPOWER not to sit down and eat the entire bag of chocolate pretzels. (My slowly diminishing ass thanks me.) The other goodies are living at my office to be savored sloooowly when people are trying to entice me with cheesecake.

Other goodies

I’ve been on a lace knitting kick lately. As in, like, the last couple of months, I’ve finished two Swallowtail Shawls and am 75% through a Shetland Triangle. (Before I get the knitting police slapping my needles out of my hands, the two Swallowtails are gifts and not to be seen online until after both recipients have gotten them. I’d hate for them to find out via the innernets what their gifts are. You understand, right?)

All that was to say that she sent me a book on lace (squee!) and while it now lies about itself as it is NOT modern any more, it’s still very beautiful and I saw more than one thing in there that I was like, hmm…must. make. NOW!

The folks at work will be quite happy to find out that I was also given a book on cupcakes and a super cute “chegg” measuring spoon. (Is it a chick? Is it an egg? NO! It’s a chegg!)

And of course, I have mooses. Seriously, I’m gonna have to find a new animal to obsess over after SP 10 ends. Because there is no one else that could ever possibly have gone so out of their way to find moose things (that make me squee so much!) as my SP. Dudes. A moose bookmark. God forbid I ever encounter a real moose. I’d be the idiot that tries to like pose for a camera with the moose. Not the smart person that backs away from said moose. You know, it being a wild animal and all. I’d probably hug it. Or attempt to. And perhaps try to bring it home.

Maybe a kiwi

Big huge thank you SP! If you were a moose, I’d hug you! :D (Also, I’ve never worked with the type of dye you sent I’ve only ever used jacquard dyes), so I’ll probably be emailing you wondering what on earth I’m spost to do with all the stuff.)

I mentioned a Shetland Triangle above. Yep. I haven’t blogged about it yet because honestly, the knitting of it has flown by so far, that I feel like I’ve only barely picked it up and a veritable boatload of family type stuff has happened in the last couple of weeks. (At the same time, please forgive my tardy blogging)

And I’m off! I’ve got box bags to make!
