Nice and fresh!

I’m apparently becoming more and more of an adult all the time. (Quit laughing.)

I went home to Galveston for the weekend/Mardi Gras/little brother’s birthday. Sunday before I left to come back to Houston, my Mom and I took a trip to Home Depot and Target. Whilst there, we bought a few things and upon arriving home, I transformed my door from boring, "Do-we-need-to-break-down-the-door-to-see-if-she-exists??" to "The-plant-is-still-alive-so-I-guess-no-one-is-dead-here"

My new plant and doormat.

This only took me one year to the day to accomplish after moving in. But even though I know that the living room looks like a bomb exploded in it, I still feel all adult and relaxed for 5 seconds when I walk up after a long day at work. Unfortunately I have to open the door eventually. The neighbors think I’m weird enough already, no need to help them along with that line of thinking.

On another note, Kelly has been busting my ass on and off for the last like month and a half to get around to posting photos of my sweater amounts of yarn. See, when I did my whole "Check out the ridiculous amount of yarn living in my apt" post, I kinda never got around to disclosing the full stash. In particular, my sweater amounts were missing. Well, thanks to a fortuitous (ooh, $10 word!) find this weekend, I scored two sets of plastic storage drawers in perfetto condizione. One big set and one medium set. This saved me from having to go out and buy them myself, because I was doing a glorious job of procrastinating about this. After being wiped down, the large drawers were ready for yarn!

clicky-clicky!

clicky-clicky!

clickety-click!

Now, I am in full disclosure regarding the amount of yarn hiding in my apt.

I’m going to go admire my doormat now.

In which I learn to live like an adult…

So, in non-knitting related news, I found something on the internet tonight.

Edward Gorey Font

I found an Edward Gorey inspired True Type Font that was made available for free under a creative commons license here.

I won’t spend a lot of time waxing poetic about Edward Gorey. But we shall suffice it to say that I may have squealed like a little girl and downloaded the font and joyfully typed quite a lot of mindless drivel just because of the sheer pleasure in the fact that I could.

I adore Edward Gorey’s work.

(This is the second time I’ve tried to write this as the computer is conspiring against me!)

I’ve spent the bulk of my weekend uploading music to the computer, so what did I do whilst this was going on? I got started on Christmas presents. (Yes, it’s god-awful early, but I’ve got a lot of people I want to knit for this year. Some of them just don’t know that the things they requested will not be given to them as early as they requested but instead saved for the appropriate season. HA!)

Christmas Gift #1

Trying it on!

This is just your easy peasy crochet scarf. Long line of chain stitches and then increased every other row. Nothing to it. I used 2 skeins of Moda Dea Cache (from the stash) in some bright as hell sherbet color and a large plastic crochet hook that could disembowel someone if necessary.

Now, off to my friend’s house for the superbowl!
