Thanks Mother Nature…

Around 2:45, the CFO of the company emailed everyone to let them know that with the weather the way it was, anyone who felt the need to leave would be excused.
I hemmed and hawed. I drove through some pretty high water this morning to get to work and it had done nothing out our way except dump more rain. All. Day. Long.
So I decided to go home before it got worse and my tiny little low car got stranded on I-45 like those two gals who died earlier today after trying to drive through some water and underestimating the depth of it.
Side note to other women: You know how they always tell you not to drive through standing water if you can’t see straight through it? Well, they learned that lesson the hard way. Let’s be smart and learn from others’ mistakes now shall we??
So, I crawled home at a sprightly 20 mph. I went through downtown to get to Allen Parkway and pulled off into Eleanor Tinsley Park. Now, keep in mind, that on a normal day, you should not be able to see the water through the trees because it’s way down in the bottom of the bayou. Or something like that. Suffice, you should normally see lots and lots and lots of green green grass and these trees are normally MUCH taller - like twice as tall as what you see in the photos in some cases.

We give up Mother Nature! But thanks for the knitting time.

I *barely* made it ONE BLOCK to get on the freeway yesterday! A couple of the guys got stuck here until almost 7.
I finished two rows on a small project while I was crawling home myself.

I’m so glad you made it home safely. My one-mile commute was not a problem. I didn’t even realize how bad things were until I saw your pictures.

Hi, we find out about the openings because we’re members. We get cards everytime a new exhibit is opening–they always have an evening do and an afternoon opening. This is our first time to go.

I’m glad you made it home safe & sound. I didn’t even dare to leave the house - that was just too much rain.

weird.
My 10.5 mile commute to work (in the Montrose area) involved no standing water/flooded streets. Nor did my drive home. I was really expecting it to be flooded in the areas that I drive through, but it wasn’t. I’m quite thankful for that because I’ve driven through enough of that.
